Welcome, ghosts, vampires, witches, and cosmic horrors to the Halloween Horror Extravaganza. This is the first of many posts I will be making throughout the month of October. I am a fan of fantasy, the supernatural, and of course horror. With the month of spooks upon us, I will dedicate much of my time to consuming horror and other spooky media. Once that part’s done, I will write about my experiences for my fine readers on this blog.
I will read, watch, and play video games, all around the theme of scary monsters, dangerous psychopaths, ravenous aliens, and other things which bring out that certain feeling that we all know and some love. Some of these works I have already gone through and will write about my favorites. Others, I have never experienced before. You will get a first impression and story analysis on those. Of course, it won’t be totally objective. Fiction analysis never is. I’m looking at these pieces as a fan of horror who’s here for a good time.
Horror Video Games
The first and possibly only game I play will be Bloodborne. It’s one of my favorite games. That will be my big project for this month’s Halloween Horror Extravaganza. I intend to do a new play-through as an arcane build. Something I’ve never done before. Then, I will go through and give you my impressions of the build, talk about the story, and give a general analysis of the lore. For those of you who know Bloodborne, you know that won’t be an easy feat. For those who love horror and know nothing about Bloodborne, you’re in for a treat. Gothic and Cosmic horror merge into a twisted and beautiful symphony in the FromSoft game. So, I will be going through the game and giving you semi-regular updates over this month. If all goes well, I will be posting that analysis on October 31st, in celebration of the day itself.
Scary Books
For the books, I will most likely be reading some H.P. Lovecraft. Love him or hate him, he created a new horror genre back in the day and still has a hold on what horror looks like today.
For the first book, I will not be reading him, but a horror classic I’ve never gone through. The one and only Dracula by Bram Stoker. That’s right, I’ve never actually read it. That will be the first book I read and one of the first reviews you see on here.
Halloween Horror Movies
Movies will come and go. My list is still flexible though I have a few I absolutely must talk about. Classics like the Thing and Alien. Things that no horror reviewer can go without. I will also go over things like Van Hellsing and Underworld. Though they aren’t technically horror, they hit that spooky Halloween vibe for me and they’re a lot of fun.
I’ve been doing the Halloween Horror Extravaganza for several years. I do it by myself or with friends. This year, I’ve decided to make it public and I hope to make it a yearly event.
Join me!
Watch some of the same movies with me. Maybe read a classic you’ve wanted to but never got around to. Several movies I’ll watch are available on Netflix or Amazon Prime. I’ll be posting my reviews on the blog.
This year has been crazy for me, as I’m sure it has for you. Let’s sit back and enjoy a favorite past time. Let’s get scared in the comfort of our own home for once. Then, we can simply step away and everything’s fine. That’s why we love horror, isn’t it? The thrill of danger without actually being at risk. Well, this year you don’t have to do it alone. I’m going through this October with a reviewer’s mindset. And as a fan of all things spooky. We may be in lockdown but that doesn’t mean we can’t get into the Halloween spirit together.
Give me your favorite horror movie in the comments below. You may show me my new favorite. And follow me on Facebook to stay updated about the Halloween Horror Extravaganza all month long.
